Some shows carry history whether you plan on it or not. The first time I saw Lacuna Coil was back in 2003 when they opened for Type O Negative at the old Masquerade. That version of the venue had a darker, more raw feel. Coming into the current Masquerade in 2026, the space is different, but the connection to those earlier shows is still there, especially when a band like this comes through.

Day two of SweetWater 420 Fest 2026 in Atlanta picked up right where day one left off, but it didn’t take long to notice the difference. Being a Saturday, the crowd showed up earlier and in bigger numbers instead of slowly building like Friday. From the time the first band hit, people were already in place and ready for it.

Aisle 5 was the place to be on April 16 as Kid Sistr, Post Sex Nachos, and Kids That Fly rolled through Atlanta on their co-headline run. The room had that perfect Little Five Points energy from the start, and the night moved naturally from one set to the next without ever feeling disconnected. Three different sounds, but all living in the same space, and the crowd stayed with it the whole way through.

Some nights are built to escalate, and this one did exactly that. Four bands, each heavier than the last, all packed into the Coca-Cola Roxy on a Braves game night, which already had the area chaotic before doors even opened. Once inside though, it locked in quick. This wasn’t a casual crowd. People showed up early and stayed engaged the entire night, which says a lot when you’re starting this heavy right out of the gate.

The Heaven room at The Masquerade filled in quickly on April 11 as The Devil Wears Prada brought the Flowers Tour through Atlanta. The floor tightened up early, the crowd was engaged before the lights even dropped, and the energy carried from the first band all the way through the encore.

Kicking off at 1pm on Saturday, April 4th, the SweetWater Brewing patio was already filling in for a day that felt bigger than a typical local brewery show. This Battle of the Bands Atlanta finale was the final push before SweetWater 420 Fest, and every band on that stage knew exactly what was on the line. The Funeral Portrait returned home to headline Heaven at The Masquerade for their Second Annual Suffocate City Town Hall Meeting, delivering a hometown performance that was equal parts celebration, validation, and victory lap. For longtime Atlanta concertgoers, this show represented more than a sold-out room. It was a reminder of how far a band can go when they grind, build a loyal community, and never lose sight of where they started.

Atlanta felt colder than usual on Tuesday night, but you would never know it once you stepped inside The Eastern to see Portugal. The Man on their current Denali Tour. The show was completely sold out, and the crowd filled the room early for a night that moved between laid-back grooves and big, room-shaking moments.

November 13th at The Masquerade felt like stepping into a world that only GWAR could create. The scumdogs of the universe brought their The Return Of Gor Gor Tour to town and it was nothing less than a spectical. The second the house lights dropped, the room turned into a warzone of color, gore effects, and heavy riffs. Atlanta crowds always show up ready to go hard, but this one felt extra charged. You could feel the energy climbing before the first spray even hit the air. G
