Album Review : Lorna Shore - Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me

ree

Lorna Shore’s fifth studio album, I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me, was released on September 12, 2025, via Century Media Records. Produced by Josh Schroeder alongside guitarist/producer Adam De Micco, the album continues the band's evolution from their earlier technical and symphonic deathcore roots into a darker, more emotionally charged, expansive sound.

Band Background

Formed in 2010 in New Jersey, Lorna Shore has undergone numerous lineup changes, particularly in the lead vocal spot, until Will Ramos joined and helped propel the band to new heights. Their 2022 release, Pain Remains, cemented their place among the leading acts in modern extreme metal, blending orchestral intensity with crushing heaviness, technical skill, and emotional depth.

Album Highlights and Themes

The title itself hints at the darkness within, drawn from lyrics in opening track “Prison of Flesh,” which confronts the personal trauma of familial dementia and the fear of being consumed by an all-encompassing void.

“Oblivion,” the album’s first single dropped May 16, 2025, tackles apocalyptic environmental collapse, drawing attention to humanity’s destructive trajectory.

“Unbreakable” (released June 25), shifts into more motivational territory, a rallying cry amid bleakness a sense of solidarity and perseverance.

“Glenwood,” unveiled with a video on the album’s release date, delves into Ramos’s estranged relationship with his father, delivering emotional weight through both lyrics and visuals.

Throughout the album’s 66-minute runtime, Lorna Shore balances overwhelming aggression with orchestral beauty. Songs like “Lionheart,” “War Machine,” and “A Nameless Hymn” combine relentless blast beats with symphonic layering and guitar mastery from both Adam De Micco (lead) and Andrew O’Connor (rhythm), with Michael Yager on bass/backing vocals and Austin Archey delivering machine-gun drumming.

Overall Assessment

I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me is a commanding statement, heavier, darker, and more emotionally resonant than its predecessor. While it doesn’t stray far from the blueprint that made Pain Remains a massive success, it builds on that foundation through deeper themes, more melodic expansiveness, and unabashed extremity. The production, songwriting, and performances coalesce into a tour-de-force for the genre.

Standout tracks across various reviews include "Oblivion," "Death Can Take Me," "A Nameless Hymn," and of course the emotional impact of "Glenwood."

Final Word

Lorna Shore’s I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me is a formidable, emotionally charged expanse. Deathcore at its most symphonic and savage, it doesn’t just push boundaries, it obliterates them. Whether you’re drawn in by the orchestral grandeur, the guttural wrath of Will Ramos, or the sheer scale of the ambition, this album doesn’t disappoint. It’s a defining moment in their trajectory, and possibly a landmark in modern extreme metal.

Verdict: 9/10
