Gaslight Anthem opened the night and didn’t waste a second. Their set was full of heart, tight playing, and a whole lot of feelings. One of the standout moments was their cover of “Chloe Dancer” by Mother Love Bone. It was delivered with just the right amount of weight, and it pulled the crowd in hard. Then they closed their set with a powerful tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, playing “Mama, I’m Coming Home.” Everyone got quiet. It was a full-on moment of respect, and it landed.
Then Counting Crows took the stage and brought a completely different kind of energy. This was my first time seeing them live, and they didn’t disappoint. They opened with “Spaceman in Tulsa” and flowed into “I Wish I Was a Girl” and “Mr. Jones.” That early run locked in the whole crowd. “Mr. Jones” turned into a full amphitheatre singalong, and from there, the rest of the night was just as strong.
They didn’t just hit the expected tracks. Songs like “Omaha,” “Anna Begins,” and “With Love, From A-Z” showed how deep their catalog really goes. “Colorblind” was quiet and haunting, and the acoustic stretch with “Washington Square” and “Angels of the Silences” gave everyone a chance to settle into something softer before the home stretch.
Adam Duritz didn’t talk much between songs, but when he did, it felt natural. No big speeches. Just a few words here and there that kept things grounded. The band played like a group that still cares about what they’re doing, and it showed.

“Round Here” was a slow burn that built and stretched in all the right places. “A Long December” brought a heavy emotional wave that clearly meant something to a lot of people in the crowd. Then “Rain King” shook things back up before the band walked off.
They returned for a three-song encore “Under the Aurora,” “Hanginaround,” and “Holiday in Spain.” It wasn’t overdone or dragged out. Just a strong, clean finish to a night full of feeling.
This show didn’t rely on spectacle or staging. It didn’t need to. It was just good songs played well by a band that still has something to say. For my first time seeing Counting Crows, it hit exactly the way I wanted it to.
Between Gaslight’s powerful opener and Counting Crows’ emotional set, this was the kind of night that reminds you why live music still matters.
