Steven Tyler and Soundgarden Members Join Black Sabbath’s Epic Final Concert

It’s the end of an era — and the beginning of one legendary night.

Black Sabbath, the forefathers of heavy metal, have announced what will officially be their final performance, set for July 5, 2025, in their hometown of Birmingham, UK. The event, titled “Back to the Beginning,” will take place at Villa Park and marks both Black Sabbath’s last-ever concert and Ozzy Osbourne’s final solo appearance. The already massive lineup just got even bigger, with the addition of Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and members of Soundgarden, adding even more star power to what’s being hailed as the most epic rock send-off of all time.

A Farewell Only Birmingham Could Host

Curated by Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), “Back to the Beginning” isn’t just another festival — it’s a tribute, a reunion, and a celebration of Black Sabbath’s legacy, all rolled into one. The fact that it’s taking place in Birmingham, the city where Sabbath formed back in 1968, makes it all the more symbolic. It's a full-circle moment, decades in the making.

The core Black Sabbath lineup — Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward — are all expected to be present, making this the reunion fans have long been hoping for. For Ozzy, it’s more than just a concert; it’s a personal mission. Despite recent health setbacks, he’s determined to be there, even if seated, telling fans, “I may be sitting down, but the point is I’ll be there, and I’ll do the best I can.”

An All-Star Cast of Rock Royalty

The guest list reads like a Hall of Fame roll call. Alongside Sabbath, the lineup includes some of the biggest names in rock and metal:

  • Metallica

  • Guns N’ Roses

  • Slayer (for a rare appearance)

  • Pantera

  • Tool

  • Alice in Chains

  • Mastodon

Now joining that lineup are Steven Tyler, the voice of Aerosmith and one of rock’s most recognizable frontmen, and members of Soundgarden, whose inclusion adds a powerful grunge-era presence to the event.

To top it off, an all-star supergroup will take the stage, featuring members of Guns N' Roses (Slash and Duff McKagan), Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), K.K. Downing (Judas Priest), Wolfgang Van Halen, and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers). If that sounds overwhelming, that’s because it is — in the best possible way.

A Concert with Heart

“Back to the Beginning” isn't just about music; it's also about giving back. Proceeds from the concert will go to three major charities:

  • Cure Parkinson’s

  • Birmingham Children’s Hospital

  • Acorn Children’s Hospice

It's a meaningful way to tie together legacy and purpose, making the event more than just a rock show — it’s a benefit concert for good.

A Fan Frenzy: Sold Out in Minutes

If you're hoping to snag a ticket now, good luck — the event sold out in under 10 minutes. With this being Ozzy’s final bow and Sabbath’s official farewell, demand was through the roof. Fans from all over the world rushed to get a seat at what many are calling the most important rock concert of the decade — maybe ever.

With the addition of Steven Tyler and Soundgarden members, anticipation has reached a fever pitch. Fans are already speculating about surprise duets, one-off collaborations, and what the final song of the night will be. (“Paranoid” encore, anyone?)

Whether you're lucky enough to be there in person or watching online, this show is shaping up to be a defining moment in music history — a gathering of legends, a farewell to giants, and a love letter to rock and metal fans everywhere.
