Opening for Neon Trees is no small task—but Night Cap didn’t just warm up the crowd at Buckhead Theatre on April 2; they delivered a performance that left a lasting impression. With a magnetic stage presence and a sound that blends dreamy indie rock with raw emotional energy, Night Cap proved they’re more than just the opener—they’re a band to watch.

They kicked off their set with “Freeway,” instantly pulling the crowd into their world of reverb-drenched guitars, pulsing drums, and vocals that hit straight in the chest. Frontman Ryan King delivered each lyric with urgency and soul, balancing smooth falsettos with gritty edge. The audience quickly became engaged, recognizing that this was more than just a warm-up act.

Highlights included “Everest,” which had the crowd swaying in sync, and a hauntingly fresh unreleased track that hinted at big things to come. Their surprise cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” was a bold move, but they made it their own, giving the classic a moody, modern spin that landed beautifully.

Opening for a band like Neon Trees could’ve felt like a mismatch, but Nightcap held their own and then some. Their sound complements the headliner while still carving out its own identity—leaning a little darker, a little more introspective, but every bit as hooky and electric. It’s clear these guys aren’t content with staying in the shadows.
