Tabernacle had that feeling the second you walked in on April 10. Not every show has it, but you know it when it’s there. There’s just something about that room too. The old church layout, the balcony wrapping around the floor, it always feels a little tighter and louder than it should. That works in a band’s favor, and it definitely did this night.

This was Helloween celebrating 40 years, and the crowd treated it like something bigger than just another tour stop.

Beast in Black got things going and set the tone quick. No slow start, just straight into it. “Power of the Beast” and “Hardcore” came out swinging, and by the time they hit “Blind and Frozen,” the floor was already moving. They’ve got that mix of melody and punch that works live, and it translated really well in that room. By the time they closed with “No Surrender,” the place was ready.

You could feel the shift during the changeover too. Nobody checked out. If anything, people just got louder. So when Helloween finally hit the stage, the reaction was instant.

They didn’t waste time easing into anything either. “March of Time,” “The King for a 1000 Years,” and “Future World” came early and hit exactly how you’d want them to. The crowd was loud right from the start and stayed that way.

One thing that really added to the show was the visual side of it. The stage setup and screen visuals shifted throughout the set and helped match the different eras they were pulling from. Nothing over the top just for the sake of it, but enough to give each section of the set its own feel. Combined with the lighting, it gave the whole show a bigger presence without taking away from the performance.

What really worked about this set was how it moved. You’d get something classic like “I Want Out” or “Dr. Stein,” and then they’d slide into something newer like “This Is Tokyo” or “Into the Sun,” and it never felt like a drop. It all felt like it belonged together.

The middle of the set is where it really sinks in how much material they have to pull from. They were hitting songs from all over their catalog, Keeper of the Seven Keys, Walls of Jericho, The Time of the Oath, and more. It wasn’t just the obvious picks either. It felt like they actually wanted to give fans a little bit of everything.

And even with how long the set ran, it never felt like it dragged. The pacing kept things moving, and the crowd stayed with them the whole time. No lull, just a steady build as the night went on.

The last stretch of the night is where it really came together. “Power” turned into a full room singalong, “Dr. Stein” had everyone moving, and once they stepped off before the encore, you could already feel what was coming next.

Ending with “Keeper of the Seven Keys” just felt right. Big, loud, and exactly how you want a show like this to end.

What stands out most is that this doesn’t feel like a band just playing through the hits because they have to. Helloween still sounds sharp, still looks like they’re having a good time, and still knows how to put on a full show.

Even if you’ve seen them before, this is one of those tours that’s worth going back to. It’s not the same show recycled. It actually feels like a celebration.
